PURSUIT CHURCH IS ALL ABOUT PURSUING

GOD

That’s our purpose. Real people, really pursuing God together. Our journey began in 2010 by taking a fresh look at what the Bible says about following Jesus. We believe the supernatural God of the Bible is the same God today, and He still desires to have meaningful, powerful relationships with the people of His creation. By exalting Jesus, and surrendering to the Holy Spirit, we are escaping the confines of timid, structured religion, and we are reaching out for all that our heavenly Father has for us. We are drawing nearer to the heart of God and seeking to share Him with the world. We’d love for you to pursue Him with us.

OUR VISION

We long to be a Spirit-filled church with Spirit-filled people. But we know that saying it doesn’t make it so. We are convinced that God hears the cries of His people, so we make prayer a priority in all we do. We also know that when the Holy Spirit is in control He inspires passionate worship. And the key to our pursuit is a willingness to surrender to Him completely – one person at a time.

STATEMENTS OF FAITH

1. SCRIPTURE

We believe in the verbal inspiration and inerrancy of the Scriptures and the authority of both the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:20-21)

2. TRINITY

We believe that God eternally exists in three Persons – The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – and that these three are one God, having the same nature, attributes, and perfections, and worthy of the same worship, reverence and obedience.

(Genesis 1:26; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1-5, 14:15-17)

3. MAN

We believe man was created in the image of God, but sinned and fell through disobedience, and that the entire human race shares in man’s lost and depraved nature.

(Genesis 1:27, 2:7, 3:1-24; Romans 3:23)

4. JESUS

We believe Jesus, the eternal Son of God, took upon Himself the form of a man by means of the virgin birth, lived a sinless life, yet retained His absolute deity, being at the same time both God and man.

(Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:22-23; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

5. CROSS

We believe that atonement for sin was made by the sacrificial and substitutionary death of Jesus Christ on the Cross.

(Isaiah 53:6; Romans 6:23; 2 Corinthians 5:21)

6. RESURRECTION

We believe in the literal (physical) resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven and His priestly intercession for believers.

(Matthew 28:5-7; Acts 1:9; Hebrews 7:23-25; 1 Peter 3:21-22)

7. SALVATION

We believe salvation is the gift of God by grace alone and is received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and that this faith is manifested in works pleasing to God.

(Acts 4:12, 26:20; Ephesians 2:8-10)

8. HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is the promise of the Father, the Comforter who indwells and places every believer in the body of Christ, bestows spiritual gifts upon the church, and convicts the world of sin and the judgment to come.

(John 14:15-18, 16:7-15; Acts 1:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11; Ephesians 1:13-14)

9. BAPTISM OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that while all believers are indwelt by the Spirit of God, the baptism of the Holy Spirit is an experience distinct from conversion which results in an endowment of power for service and a personal awareness of the manifest presence of God.

(Luke 3:16; Acts 1:4-8, 2:33, 8:14-17, 19:1-7)

10. CHURCH

We believe every person who is born of God’s Spirit is part of the universal church as a member of the body of believers, and is commanded by Scripture to be involved in a local church.

(John 3:5-8; Hebrews 10:19-25)

11. SANCTIFICATION

We believe sanctification is the ongoing process of yielding to God’s Word and the Holy Spirit in order to complete the development of Christ’s character in us.

(John 17:17; Romans 15:14-16; 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24; 2 Thessalonians 2:13; 1 Peter 1:2)

12. BAPTISM & COMMUNION

We believe the ordinances of the church, by the command of Christ, are water baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper, both of which are administered to those who are born again.

(Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 2:38; Romans 6:1-4; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Colossians 2:12)

13. ETERNITY

We believe in the eternal salvation of true believers and in the eternal condemnation and punishment of nonbelievers. We believe that the consummation of all things includes the visible, personal, and glorious return of Jesus Christ to earth at a future time known only to the Father.

(Matthew 24:36-44; John 3:16-18, 10:27-30; Acts 1:7-11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
